Remediation Planning and Monitoring

Although not all chemical releases require remediation, remediation is usually warranted if contamination to soils and groundwater is damaging to the environment, human health, and affect the monetary value of a property. As such, strict regulations have been developed throughout the Untied States, to protect soil and water resources and remediate such resources when contaminated above thresholds.

Working through the complex requirements set forth by various levels of regulators in pursuit of a successful remediation, culminating in a “No Further Action (NFA) or Site Closure” letter, can be a trying experience.

Andersen Environmental certified professionals provide turn-key solutions to clients trying to resolve contamination issues. Andersen Environmental will work with each client in developing the most effective method to resolve said issues, taking into account the clients time and monetary constraints.

Common sites and contamination types requiring remediation may include:

  • Gas Stations- Fuel Hydrocarbons, MTBE & Oils
  • Dry Cleaners- Chloronated Solvents including PCE & TCE
  • Auto Repair Facilities – Oils, Solvents & Metals
  • Plating Facilities –Metals
  • Aerospace Manufacturing – Metals & Solvents
  • Any other facility using or storing hazardous materials

Every site represents a unique condition in which many factors are taken into consideration when approaching a remediation/ cleanup plan such as soil type, depth of contamination and type of contamination. As such when coordinating the plan with regulators or moving forward on a “self-directed” basis as prescribed by certain regulatory agencies, the following are some of the options that may be available:

SOIL/GROUND WATER REMEDIATION

  • Soil Excavation and Removal
    • Offsite Incineration
    • Land Farming – Biological, Chemical
    • Landfill Disposal
  • Groundwater Remediation
    • Pump and Treat Systems
  • In - Situ Remediation
    • Vapor Extraction, Air Sparging
    • Biological Enhancement
    • Chemical Oxidation
    • Monitored Natural Attenuation
  • Portable Treatment Systems

Site Closure Services (Consulting)

As environmental regulation becomes increasingly stringent, Andersen Environmental provides a turn-key solution to our clients in interacting with local, state and federal agencies to achieve compliance, gain closure for impacted sites, decommission of underground storage tanks (USTs), or any other requirements set forth by a regulatory agency.

When faced with an environmental issue, it is important to first understand which regulatory agency is responsible for oversight, as this may seem straightforward; however agencies often overlap in jurisdiction, as such choosing the path with least resistance is critical to a timely and cost effective resolution. Once the regulatory path is chosen, adhering to the requirements set forth is often a confusing, timely, and often a frustrating experience.

Andersen Environmental seeks to remove that burden from our clients; we handle all communications and fulfillment of requirements, while providing full transparency to our clients. Andersen Environmental seeks to provide our clients with the desired results, as they pertain to regulatory status.
